Flo's suggestion to try the react login example is actually a great idea. It can help you identify if the issue is in your setup. If that example works well for you, then it's likely a config issue w/ your app.
In terms of requesting user info, you can use either:
The userinfo endpoint -> https://zitadel.com/docs/apis/openidoauth/endpoints#userinfo_endpoint
the id token (if openid scope is enabled) -> https://zitadel.com/docs/apis/openidoauth/endpoints#id_token
