FWhile we want to add groups at one point, I am not so sure about hierarichal groups, because resolving that is a nightmare

SOverlapping sets of group members sounds viable (if not mandatory) for a group’s implementation.
Fthere migth be a couple of workarounds, depending on why exactly you need the groups.
Ffirst possiblity you add metadata with the group name to the user
Fsecond possiblity would be to use the roles of a project like group1, group2, but you would only have it in the context of that project in that case
SYet to get to it as we’re still a startup and chasing the first couple dozen active users but it’ll likely be quite an annoying issue later down the line when you want an admins group it super admin group that’s dynamically populated by members
Fi think that should work. i have to admit we never had someone use projects for group management, and it is not the intended way, but its up to you use it that way.
Fyou could also build the group management out of zitadel somewhere in your own application
SYeah we've loosely tried that though running a reconciliation loop to compare the group memberships in our db, against which grants per project are then represented by said group and which members need to get them added (or removed) feels a tad fragile currently.
