We love seeing so many of you building with ZITADEL! We’ve noticed a lot of you prefer the self-hosted route over our Cloud offering. While we fully support self-hosting (open source for the win!
), we want to understand if there are specific "deal-breakers" keeping you away from our Cloud.
If you’ve considered ZITADEL Cloud but decided to stay self-hosted, we’d love to know if there was a specific technical blocker that made Cloud a "no-go" for your stack.
What’s the main thing that makes Cloud a non-starter for you?

⃣ Preference for Self-Hosting: I just prefer full control over my stack and data.
- 2⃣ Cost/Pricing: The current pricing model or "Free Tier" limits don't fit my project.
- 3⃣ Region/Residency: I need a specific region that isn't available or included in the tier I want.
- 4⃣ Compliance/Legal: My industry/company forbids storing identity data in a cloud.
- 5⃣ Customization: I need to tweak the engine/config in ways the Cloud doesn't allow yet.
- 6⃣ Private Networking: My apps are on-prem/private and connecting to a public cloud is a hassle.
