Opening url with code after signup shows User Not Found in login v2 logs

Hi all, I am facing the exact same issue as this github issue: https://github.com/zitadel/zitadel/issues/11260
Wondering if anyone has seen this before and has a workaround. This is effectively stopping my onboarding flow dead in the water.
What's strange is that the flow isn't broken for any other workflows -- I can login successfully with another account that hasn't gone through the invite code flow and I can login with that same user later, after triggering login normally again. What's specifically broken seems to be whatever happens after accepting the invite code.
